Literature Text

Sarah yawned heavily and sat up, rubbing her eyes to get the sleep out of them. She slides out of bed and opens her bedroom door, heading down the hall and down the stairs towards her kitchen.

I need coffee, she thought, taking out a container of ground coffee, putting a scoop of it into her coffee machine and turned it on. She sat at her small dining table to wait for the coffee to be ready, yawning.

"That was the weirdest dream that I ever had," she groaned, still trying to wake herself up. Coffee would help once it's done being made.

All she could remember after telling owl Jareth that he could stay for awhile was that she had taken one of her sweaters from her dresser and placed it on her desk chair for him to sleep on. He wrote on the paper, after testing the new bed, that he won't be able to sleep on the sweater because it was scratchy.

Sarah was about to argue but stopped herself, reminding herself that he's already depressed enough that she didn't want to make it worse. She decided to take out a silk dress from her closet that her dad let her get for her High School graduation, which was sadly too small for her now and let Jareth use it instead. He seemed pleased and fell asleep on it on the chair.

She then remembered that she thought that owl Jareth looked so cute sleeping but that might have been her imagination.

Sarah saw something at the corner of her eye and almost screamed once something landed on the table in front of her. She blinked a few times to register what was in front of her and her eyes widened when she saw owl Jareth standing there.

He places a piece of paper and ink bottle on the table then looked up at her with his mismatched eyes.

Sarah was still trying to process the thought of what happened last night not being a dream at all until Jareth started writing something down on the paper with his inked covered talons.

He picked it up in his beak and turned to her, "Is that coffee you're making?" it said.

Sarah frowned, "You know what coffee is?" she said, surprised.

"Come, come now precious, I don't just hang out in the Underground all the time," he had wrote.

Sarah laughed and nodded her head, "Yes, it's coffee, do you want..." she stopped herself, "I don't think owls can have coffee."

Jareth lowered his eyes then wrote on the paper, "Yeah, I guess."

Sarah frowned, "Well, you can always try it and if anything bad happens you can't have it anymore. How's that?" Jareth seemed to perk up and he nodded his head.

Sarah smiled then got up, grabbing two mugs and she set them near the coffee machine. She notices that the coffee had finished and she poured it into the mugs and placed one in front of Jareth.

Sarah then went to the fridge and took out a carton of cream and milk, taking a bowl of sugar cubes from the cupboard on the way back to the table. She set them down and poured a bit of milk into her coffee and dropping a few cubes of sugar into it as well.

She then watched as Jareth pushes the carton of cream, practically with his entire body, towards his mug. Once it was close enough, he tries to lift it so he can pour it into his coffee.

Sarah sighs, knowing that he's trying so hard to do things on his own, "Do you need help?" she asks, taking a sip of her coffee afterwards.

Jareth stops all attempts to lift the carton and looks at her. He nods his head slowly, not really wanting help.

Sarah lifts the carton easily and pours the cream slowly into the coffee, stopping when he lifted a talon. While Sarah drank more of her coffee, she watched as Jareth brought the bowl of sugar cubes closer and started to drop some in, one-by-one.

Sarah frowned, counting each cube,
...5...6...7...8...that's going to be one hell of a sugar rush, she thought. He stopped at 10 cubes though and stirred it with a spoon that Sarah handed him.

Jareth took a sip of the coffee and made a satisfying sound after. He takes another sip before writing something down on the paper, "Just as I suspected, I make great cups of coffee."

Sarah shook her head. Now that was the Goblin King she knew, always full of himself. They continued to drink their coffee in silence, which Sarah was perfectly fine with. She was fully awake now by the time she finished her coffee.

She was about to ask if Jareth was done his but stopped herself, seeing him staring right at her with one of his eyes twitching.

She slid his coffee away from him that was half empty, "That's it, you're sticking with decaf next time," she said then stood up, putting the mugs on the counter. Once she turned back around, she didn't see him on the table. She frowned and looked in the living room, seeing him flying around in circles noisily.

Sarah groaned, having a hand over her eyes and she shook her head,
Note to self: no more sugar for the Goblin King when he's an owl.

She sat down on her couch and watched Jareth fly around for a bit before turning on the T.V. It took awhile until he finally calmed down and landed on the couch beside her, flopping down on his stomach to try and catch his breath.

Sarah smiled, "Better?"

Jareth nodded then stood up, taking off again and landing back on the kitchen table.

Sarah frowned, realizing he hadn't eaten ever since he showed up, "Do you want anything to eat?" she asks.

"I would be greatly appreciated if you did, precious, but there is a slight problem," he wrote on the paper.

"What is it?" she asks.

"I've never eaten in my owl form before because I was able to change back whenever and eat then," he explained on the paper.

Sarah put a finger on her chin thoughtfully, "Well, it doesn't hurt to try now and since you're an owl, you'll have to eat what owls eat."

Jareth's eyes grew huge and he quickly wrote on the paper, grabbed it in his beak and flew towards her, landing on the couch beside her. Sarah took it from his beak and read it.

"ARE YOU EXPECTING ME TO START EATING MICE!!??" it said on the paper, literally all in capitals.

Sarah almost laughed at this then looked down at him, nodding her head, "Of course I am, what else are you going to eat as an owl and don't say people food because I don't think that would settle properly in your system."

Jareth opened his beak about to protest, even though he needs the paper to talk, but Sarah put a finger on it, "You're practically a guest in my home so what I give you to eat, you eat it. Got it?"

Jareth stood there for a bit, thinking but then made a sound that sounded like he sighed. He sat down with his feet tucked under his body, nodding his head.

Sarah patted his head, "Aww, poor Goblin King knows when he's beat."

Jareth just glared at her for the comment she made. What else could he do as an owl? He definitely wouldn't try to hurt her by pecking or scratching, that's for sure.

She laughs at the look he gave her, "Relax Jareth, I was only joking but seriously, you'll have to eat the mice since you're an owl."

He looks at her and Sarah frowns, seeing the soft look he was giving her.

"What is it?" she asks.

He takes the paper from her and writes on it, holding it back out to her in his beak. He had wrote, "You said my name for once."

Sarah blinks, just realizing that she indeed said his name. She wasn't even thinking when she said it and it felt right to use his actual name. She smiled,
I guess it doesn't hurt to call him by his name now, she thought.

She nods her head, "I guess I did."

"Would you say it again?"

Sarah crossed her arms and smiled, narrowing her eyes, "Don't push your luck Goblin King."

Jareth seemed to frown and wrote on the paper, "Damn."
Here's the second part to this wonderful fanfiction I'm working on. 8D

It's the first morning of owl Jareth being at Sarah's place.

Still sorry if I make them a little OOC.
